PROJECT OVERVIEW
STEP 1

Here’s how to install your new 270° King Wing in around 15 minutes, plus how to initially set it up at home so that it’s a piece of cake to setup by yourself when you’re out camping! First, unbox your new King Wing and set it out on the ground. Zip open the cover all the way and look for the three included bags – the mounting feet, the pegs and the guy ropes.

STEP 2

Lay everything out so you know what you’re working with. You’ll have two re-inforced L-brackets, two flat sandwich plates, four long bolts with locknuts, 8 short bolts with locknuts, pegs and guy ropes, along with a two-piece tensioning strap.

STEP 3

Take note of which end of the awning the hinges are at – this is the end that goes to the back of the vehicle. Zip the awning back up and sit it up on the roofrack to find the correct positioning. Note that the King Wing is designed to fit on the left hand side of the vehicle. It should be positioned along the vehicle so that the end of the awning overlaps the D-pillar of the vehicle or canopy by about six inches.

STEP 4

Decide on the positioning of the feet. The rear foot should be as close to the hinged end of the awning as possible, with the front foot as far forward as your roofrack allows. Bolt the mounting brackets around a strong structural part of your roofrack like the cross-tube – using the sandwich plates and long bolts to secure it in place.

STEP 5

With both brackets bolted firmly in place, sit the King Wing back in its desired position, with the alloy frame facing upwards. Slot the 8 short bolts into position by feeding them in through the channel access points and position them as close as possible to line up with the brackets.

STEP 6

It helps to have a mate on hand for this next step. With two people supporting the King Wing, flip it over and attach it to the L brackets. Get all 8 bolts lined up and through the mounting holes, and get the top 4 nuts done up to the point it will support itself.

STEP 7

Check that the positioning along the length of the vehicle is still correct, and then do up all 12 nylon nuts tightly and check the awning is secure. And that’s it – it really is that easy!
