BURRUM COAST NATIONAL PARK

WHY IT’S A CRACKER OF A WEEKEND DESTINATION: The beautiful Burrum Coast National Park is located South East of Bundaberg, and offers spectacular beach campsites which are perfect if you’re looking to get away and relax by the 4WD or camper trailer while watching the kids play on the beach.

WHAT THE 4WDING IS LIKE IN THE AREA: It’s sand driving along a pristine bit of coastline. It can get soft in sections so correct tyre pressures are a must.

MODIFICATIONS NEEDED: A quality set of all terrain tyres is all you need, but make sure you bring your best camping gear because you’re going to want to stay in one spot and relax once you get there!

CAMPING AND FACILITIES: The Kinkuna section of the park offers some of the best beach camping you’ll experience on the East Coast, no word of a lie! It’s quiet, relaxed and there’s literally hundreds of spots to choose from behind the coastal dunes. Simply drive through and pick a spot, as there’s no designated camp sites.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT: There is some awesome beach fishing to be had here, but it is inside a marine park so there are some restrictions on where/ what you can fish. Make sure you check before wetting a line.

TOP TIP FOR VISITING THIS AREA: If you manage to get up there outside of school holidays you might even be lucky enough to have a quiet stretch of coast all to yourself!
